Warren Buffett and Mohammed Al-Jaber: Who is the best investor?

Introduction
In our modern world the economy has become the most powerful sector in all regions, since it affects the other industries locally and globally. There are some people that affect the economy which this essay will talk about. First, Warren Edward Buffett is an easy going man who became the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway company. Second, Mohammed bin Issa Al-Jaber is the CEO and the owner of MBI international group. So this essay will compare and contrast between Warren Buffet and Mohammed al-Jaber to see which investor affects the economy the most. Both of the investors will be assess on their similarities and differences in three areas: personal history, famous investments and Charity.

Personal History
First of all, Buffet and Al-Jaber have many similarities and differences in their personal histories. To start with, Warren Edward Buffet is an American business investor who started to work at his grandfather’s grocery store (Miles, 2004). He graduated with a Bachelor of Science then started his investment in a partnership at the age of twenty-five. In 1999, he was named the top money manager of the twentieth century. On the other hand, Mohammed bin Issa Al-Jaber is a Saudi Arabian businessman who had a passion for classical Arabic poetry so he studied the history of civilizations and culture. He set up his first business in 1982 also in a partnership. Both Buffett and Al-Jaber were interested in philanthropic work which is a very active area for both of them.

Famous Investment
The second area of similarities and differences between Warren Buffett and Mohammed Al-Jaber is their famous investments. In 1988, Buffett bought stock in Coca-Cola for $1.02 billion, which turned out to be one of the most lucrative investments for the chairman, CEO and largest shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway company. Al-Jaber also has some popular investments since his MBI International group owns JJW Hotels and Resorts, luxury hotels in Austria, France, Portugal and the U.K, Continentoil and oil field services and a petroleum company, Jadawel International, a company developing residential compounds and other famous investment (Wikipedia, 2013).

Charity
The last and most important area of similarities and differences between Buffett and Al-Jaber is charity. Both Buffett and Al-Jaber have a passion for Charity. For example, Buffet announced that he will give away more than 30 billion U.S dollars to charity. Furthermore, he gave it to a nonprofit organization whose work he admires which is Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation so he doubled up their fund balance instead of making his own foundation (Dietlin, 2009). Moreover, he was honored by president Obama with a medal of freedom in 2011. Like Buffett, Al-Jaber is an active philanthropist. However, his philanthropic work focuses on three areas: education, cultural dialogue and good governance. In addition, he found the MBI Al Jaber Foundation, a UK registered charity and also presented scholarships. In recognition of his work he was appointed UNESCO special envoy for education, tolerance and cultures in 2005.

Conclusion
All in all, this essay compared and contrasted between Warren Edward Buffett and Mohammed bin Issa Al-Jaber to see which investor has the most influence on the economy. The comparison between Buffett and Al-Jaber revealed many similarities and differences in three areas: early life, widely known developments and philanthropic work. Buffett is a self-made man. Likewise, Al-Jaber worked hard to get to where he is today. Although Al-Jaber is a successful investor who proved himself, Buffett has the biggest impact on the economy, due to his good reputation between the public and achievements in the recent three decades. However, both Buffett and Al-Jaber will continue to affect the economy and the philanthropic side of the world.
